Anyone who thinks that genetically modified seeds are not yet used in Europe and that these products therefore have nothing to do with us is in for a surprise. German farmers have long been feeding their animals with genetically modified feed – primarily soya. A large proportion of this soya is imported from Brazil and Argentina. There it not only boosts the economy, but also increases deforestation, the displacement of indigenous peoples and environmental pollution.

In the simulation game participants slip into the roles of the Brazilian government, farmers, indigenous people and others to experience the complexity of the topic. In the evaluation, possible courses of action in the students‘ everyday lives and careers are discussed.

The simulation game is suitable for vocational students in food professions as well as for political education and English classes.
